DID YOU KNOW? about Land Ownership in Zambia
ย
โLand ownership in Zambia is fundamentally vested in the Republican President, meaning there is no absolute (freehold) ownership for individuals. Instead, citizens and qualifying entities hold land through leasehold tenure, typically running for 99 years, while the rest is governed by customary (traditional) tenureโ
DID YOU KNOW? In Zambia, not everyone is permitted to own land, especially non-Zambian citizens.
According to the law, the following categories of persons or companies may legally own land in Zambia:
โขโ ย โ A non-Zambian citizen who holds a Resident Permit.
โขโ ย โ A non-Zambian citizen who holds an Investment Permit and License.ย
โขโ ย โ A company in which at least 75% of the shareholding is held by Zambian citizens.
We guide both individuals and companies through the correct procedures to ensure full compliance with land ownership laws in Zambia.
